Rails as a “trap”: racing cyclist has a serious fall

The streetcar tracks in Innsbruck have already been the undoing of several cyclists. On Sunday, a 47-year-old racing cyclist was caught out. The man suffered serious injuries in a fall.

At around 6.30 p.m., the 47-year-old local was riding his racing bike on Technikerstraße in Innsbruck in an easterly direction when he suddenly hit the streetcar tracks with his front tire.

Serious injuries sustained
The cyclist crashed and, according to the police, suffered serious injuries to his upper body. The racing bike was considerably damaged.

After first aid, the injured man was taken to the Innsbruck hospital by ambulance.
