Fraudster caught after years on the run
After several years on the run, a Tyrolean was arrested in Germany at the end of March. The man is allegedly responsible for fraud involving more than half a million euros in losses. He was therefore wanted internationally.
His victims: a family he knew from Lungau. He tricked them into believing he was a successful businessman. In doing so, he induced them to make investments totaling around 300,000 euros.
The man is also said to have defrauded several Austrian companies of a total of 240,000 euros. He then went into hiding. At the end of March, he was finally arrested in Germany on the basis of an EU arrest warrant.
The 38-year-old from the Landeck district has now been transferred to Salzburg prison and will be charged with serious and commercial fraud at the Salzburg public prosecutor's office
