Asfinag rescues ducklings from the southern highway

Asfinag traffic managers became lifesavers on Saturday. A whole family of ducks had lost their way on the A2 south highway and were in great danger. Fortunately, they were all rescued and released again at Schwarzlsee.

On Saturday morning, nine ducklings and their mother got lost on the A2. The dangerous thing was that the ducklings tried to cross the road. The animals were discovered during an Asfinag patrol.

Traffic Manager Ulrike Schweighofer and Franz Trieb intervened immediately. They secured the stretch of highway near Feldkirchen and rescued the duck family into a transport box. They then took the ducks to the nearby Schwarzlsee lake. "There we were able to release them all safely," says Schweighofer.
