Calf knocks down Tyrolean farmer (45) with her head

A nasty accident occurred on Friday afternoon in Imst. A farmer (45) wanted to move a calf from a trailer into the barn. The animal knocked the man's head to the ground and climbed onto his back. He was seriously injured.

The incident took place in front of a stable in Imst. The 45-year-old local man wanted to bring the animal in from a trailer. However, the calf did not react as the man had expected. The calf knocked him to the ground with her head and climbed onto his lower back with her hind legs.

A passer-by provided first aid
The cow then ran away. A man who happened to be nearby at the time administered first aid and set the rescue chain in motion. The farmer was seriously injured and taken to hospital in Zams by ambulance.

Animal caught and emergency slaughtered
The calf was caught a short time later by other men. According to the police, the animal was emergency slaughtered after the incident.
