Semi-trailer truck lost 300 liters of diesel in Pongau

Yesterday, Friday, the incident occurred on the Tauernautobahn (A10) at the Pongau junction. The fire department and towing company recovered the vehicle, which weighed several tons, and removed the contaminated material.

A 36-year-old professional driver wanted to drive off with his unloaded articulated lorry at the A10 exit at the Pongau junction. During braking, however, the articulated lorry skidded on a left-hand bend on a wet road.

Soil excavated
The vehicle, which weighed several tons, only came to a halt in a grass verge. It soon became apparent that the tank had been damaged in the accident. Around 300 liters of diesel fuel flowed out of the destroyed tank.

The volunteer fire departments from Werfen and Pfarrwerfen were deployed, the vehicle was recovered and the tank was provisionally sealed.

The contaminated soil was then excavated. The exit had to be completely closed for the clean-up work.

A breathalyzer test was carried out and the results were negative.
