A remarkable long ball from the Bizau keeper

Bizau goalkeeper Max Lang scored the opening goal against leaders Feldkirch from almost 80 meters out. This special goal set the Bregenzerwald team on their way to a home win, defeating the Vorarlberg league promotion favorites 3-0.

When a goalkeeper scores in the final minutes, you have to assume that he stormed into the opponent's penalty area when they were behind. But if the clock only shows 25 minutes played, it must have been a curious goal or a penalty. This is what happened in the Vorarlberg League duel between Bizau and Feldkirch.

Max Lang shot a ball played back to him into the net for his opposite number Jovan Petrovic. It was only the fourth defeat of the season for league leaders Feldkirch. "That certainly wasn't Max's last goal," agreed Bizau chairman Josef Greber and goalkeeping coach Andreas Morscher. "He almost scored ten minutes before the 1:0," added Morscher. Petrovic then barely moved from the goal line, but conceded two more normal goals.

The unexpected success was important for Bizau. The Wälder are in the midst of a relegation battle, the current fourth-last place would be enough to keep them in the league. Just how tight the Vorarlberg League is is shown by the fact that even fourth-placed FC Riefensberg could still be in danger of relegation.
