Emergency heart surgery: Heinz Hoenig is in a coma

In January, he was still one of the favorites in this year's jungle camp. But now there is great concern for Heinz Hoenig (72)! The actor is in a coma and had to undergo emergency heart surgery.

Heinz Hoenig was taken by helicopter to a clinic in Berlin on the evening of April 30 and is now in a coma.

The actor is said to have undergone emergency heart surgery and had a stent inserted, as reported by RTL. Heinz Hoenig is apparently in a very critical condition.

Major "urgent, life-saving operation" to follow 
A major operation is to follow on Friday. Heinz Hoenig's management confirmed to the broadcaster on Thursday: "Mr. Hoenig is unfortunately completely unavailable for the musical 'Ein bisschen Frieden', as he is currently in intensive care in a hospital and is waiting for an urgent, life-saving heart operation, which is expected to take place tomorrow (3 May)."

Not insured: 90,000 for the operation
According to RTL, the operation will cost around 90,000 euros, as the actor is not insured. Heinz Hoenig was already struggling with health problems during the jungle camp in January.

He was advised to leave the camp on day 12, but the "Das Boot" actor quickly recovered at the hotel.

Multifaceted character actor
Heinz Hoenig grew up in Bad Harzburg and discovered his passion for acting at an early age.

His big breakthrough came in 1981 with the role of Funkmaat Hinrich in Wolfgang Petersen's "Das Boot". Hoenig established himself as a versatile character actor and impressed audiences in series such as "Der König von St. Pauli".
