Drunk driver unconscious in ditch after accident

Local residents rushed to help after a drunk driver left the road in Krumpendorf in Carinthia. The man had to be rescued unconscious from a ditch. 

A Spittaler (21) was driving his car in Krumpendorf on Wednesday night, heavily intoxicated. On a bend, the young man wanted to overtake another car, but turned the steering wheel, left the road and crashed into a wire mesh fence and several trees. 

Residents rushed to help. "The 21-year-old was recovered from the car unconscious," the police said. A breathalyzer test revealed that he was heavily intoxicated. His driver's license was confiscated. The injured man was taken to hospital. The car was totaled.
