Eugen's successor
Bieler takes over as head coach of the ÖSV combined team
Christoph Bieler has finally succeeded Christoph Eugen as head coach of Austria's Nordic combined team. The former athlete and Olympic medal winner was most recently in action as assistant coach and already slipped into the head role temporarily last season, as Eugen was absent due to a family bereavement. Eugen is now taking on the role of youth coordinator.
"We won't be changing much of our basic philosophy on how we organize training and how the team should function," explained Bieler. The first training group will start their joint preparation in mid-May with a racing bike course in Mallorca.
Florian Liegl, the new Nordic Sports Director, is banking on continuity with Bieler's appointment. "The expertise that he and his coaching team bring to the table is very, very great. You can rely on them to do a good job," said Liegl.
