Dornbirn coach Orie:
“It has to be enough at the end of the season”
After a tremendous race to catch up, FC Dornbirn now have a clear path to relegation again, the Reds have a lot in their own hands. Coach Eric Orie is certain that they will have enough points on the final matchday.
They say that the dead live longer. Which applies pretty well to FC Dornbirn this season in League Two. Just over six weeks ago, the Red Shirts looked like a certainty to be relegated, 13 points behind the non-relegation places. But then, after eleven defeats in a row, they rose like a phoenix from the ashes, picking up 16 out of a possible 18 points from the last six rounds. And now, five matchdays before the end of the season, the team from Messestadt have a clear path to staying up.
Much will depend on whether Dornbirn can continue their run of success at home against KSV. A win would mean equal points with the Styrians and possibly even a non-relegation place for the first time since matchday 10.
FAC away in the next round will be difficult. After that, St. Pölten at home, but doable. There's not much at stake in the last two rounds at Leoben and Ried, and the Ländle club could be in with a chance there too. "No matter how many points we score in which games, it has to be enough in the end," says coach Eric Orie.
He is particularly looking forward to the showdown with KSV. "Because nobody expected us to work our way to this final."
