Nazan Eckes was unmasked as a “superhero dog”

Presenter Nazan Eckes has been unmasked as a "Robodog" on the music show "The Masked Singer". The 47-year-old had received too few votes from the audience, so the four-legged masquerade had to come off. 

"It's unbelievable fun," she said about taking part in the ProSieben show. Nevertheless, the conditions were not easy. "I think it's 100 degrees in this costume and it smells like an old sneaker. And sometimes the soup was running down my face."

What was particularly surprising was the level Eckes had reached with her singing over the course of the show - as she had never appeared in public before. She herself had obviously not been entirely sure of herself either. "I had no idea whether I could sing or not," she admitted. It was actually her first time singing on stage.

At the beginning of the show, pop singer Vanessa Mai gave a short performance. On Saturday evening, the 31-year-old slipped out of the "Das Mysterium" mask, which a new star wears in each episode and thus makes a one-off appearance.

Mai's performance was noticeably different from her predecessors in the role - she moved extremely elegantly. "No one has ever danced as beautifully in a Mysterium costume as you," said presenter Matthias Opdenhövel (53) approvingly. Mai sang the laid-back country song "Texas Hold 'Em" by US singer Beyoncé (42).

However, the guessing team in the studio was on to Mai. Presenter Palina Rojinski (39) guessed the correct name - after some pondering, the clues put her on the right track.
