Lake Weissensee
Modern electric boat follows 40-year-old raft
The raft on Lake Weissensee is very popular. But now it's time for a new one.
It's hard to imagine life without it - the Weissensee raft, on which various events take place time and again. The raft is also important for clubs and tourism. But after 40 years of operation, it now needs to be replaced. "We have been thinking about a new building for a long time. The project is now concrete," announces Mayor Karoline Turnschek. The new watercraft is to be adapted to current nature park conditions and the times and will therefore be electrically powered.
Municipalities help finance
It is to be a modern, alpine lifestyle raft. The passenger ship will cost 320,000 euros. "It is an inter-municipal project with Oberdrauburg, Berg, Irschen, Dellach, Greifenburg, Kleblach-Lind and Stockenboi," says Turnschek gratefully. The state has also helped financially. It is due to go into operation this year.
