Breakdance title hunt
With a spectacular show for the domestic crown
A show in a class of its own is guaranteed! On Saturday evening, Austria's breakdance elite will be dancing for the title at the Red Bull BC One Cypher Austria in Vienna's Ballonhalle. Local hero Hynamite wants to defend his victory from last year in front of almost 1000 expected fans.
An impressive backdrop, spectacular moves and "one-on-one" duels - when Austria's 16 best B-boys and eight best B-girls battle it out for victory at the Red Bull BC One Cypher Austria on Saturday in the Ballonhalle (admission from 7 pm), the floor will be shaking once again. The last editions of this Austrian final have already shown this.
Last year, local hero Hynamite took the win and is once again one of the top favorites. "My goal is to defend the title and qualify for the world final in Rio de Janerio," he emphasizes. "I was there live two weeks ago at the Open Qualifier for the Red Bull BC One Cypher Austria. I had the chance to see the level of the other B-Boys, who could now be my opponents. I prepared well and think I have a good chance of winning again."
Hynamite and Co. will have to convince the judges around B-Girl Dora, B-Boy Junior and B-Boy Lil Zoo. Lil Zoo? The local superstar "only" as a judge? "Yes, it's going to be really cool," says the Moroccan-born Innsbruck resident, who is fully focused on the Olympic qualifiers. He wants to get his ticket for Paris from May 16 in Shanghai and from June 20 in Budapest. "I have a large repertoire of moves and styles. I always try to find the right answer to my opponent in the competitions." Anyone who knows Lil Zoo knows that he is eager to premiere his sport at the Games. "I believe that I have the chance to win a medal there."
His career as a star of the scene has now also been filmed by Red Bull, and on Friday evening there was the premiere of the very successful documentary entitled "Breaking chose me" at Artis International in Vienna's first district. That says a lot. "It wasn't me who was looking for breaking, but the breaking chose me," he said during the Krone visit. "I started on the streets of Casablanca. Not because I wanted to win, but because I was passionate about it from the very beginning."
