Hartberg "feverishly":
Scots summit with Salzburg’s “executioner”
Hartberg will be aiming for their first home win of 2024 in the Bundesliga Champions League against Klagenfurt on Sunday. U21 team defender Ibane Bowat will face his ultra-hot compatriot Andy Irving.
After the 2-1 defeat to LASK, Hartberg must get something to show for their efforts at home against Klagenfurt on Sunday if they are to be allowed to dream of an international competition. And some scouts from the British Isles will certainly be keeping a close eye on the game in the Profertil Arena. After all, two Scottish stocks are hoping to take the next step in their careers with their English employers this summer.
Hartberg's defensive bulwark Ibane Bowat (market value €800,000) will face an explosive duel against a fellow countryman: the fast, robust defender, who grew up in London and could also play for France and Cameroon thanks to his family roots, but now plays for his grandfather's native Scotland thanks to his grandfather, will come up against compatriot Andy Irving (market value €1.7 million).
And the Klagenfurt playmaker is burning like a torch, recently destroying Salzburg with a treble within 22 minutes. With the 23-year-old set to return to West Ham in the summer, he will be watched closely - as will Bowat, as the 21-year-old Fulham loanee, who has blossomed into a communicative leader in the Scottish U21 team, is also about to take the next step in his career: "Three points are a must!" The Hartberg side will of course be hoping for a win for their Scot, even if he is no longer involved in any international games in the autumn. For Max Fillafer, who was unable to really enjoy his second goal of the season due to the empty-netter against LASK, one thing is clear: "We have to get three points against Klagenfurt!"
