Run-off election in Innsbruck
Willi: “I have never thrown away my nerves”
Six years ago, Georg Willi was elected the first Green mayor of a provincial capital. On Sunday, he wants to defend his "throne" in the run-off election in Innsbruck against challenger and former ÖVP member Johannes Anzengruber. The "Krone" also asked the incumbent for an interview in the run-up to the election. He talks about his strengths, weaknesses and the (green) future of the provincial capital.
"Krone": How surprised are you by this election result?
Georg Willi: I am very happy that we were able to achieve both election goals, namely to be number one as a party and number one as a mayoral candidate. In addition, the very parties that have often blocked my work have been reduced or voted out of office. Gerald Depaoli has been voted out. This is a quantum leap upwards for the mood, the language, the human interaction in the municipal council, because he often brought this disrespectful, poisonous atmosphere into it.
