Impaired drivers caught by police
Three drivers were caught driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs during several police checks in Salzburger Land on Wednesday.
A 35-year-old local man was stopped during a routine check in Radstadt. The police officers detected an alcohol content of 1.38 per mille. As a consequence, his driver's license was taken away and charges were filed.
Not only alcohol, but also drugs at the wheel turned out to be a problem. In Kuchl, a 38-year-old Hungarian citizen was stopped in a truck. Although the alcohol test was negative, the officers reacted to signs of impairment and carried out a rapid drug test, which was positive.
A similar scenario occurred in Wals when a 28-year-old Italian was stopped. Here too, the alcohol test was negative, but the rapid drug test showed a positive result. A doctor confirmed that both drivers were unfit to drive and both were reported to the police.
