Alcohol is an underestimated danger worldwide. In an international comparison, Austria is even one of the countries where it is consumed the most. During the Alcohol Dialogue Week in Carinthia, everything revolves around the "socially recognized pleasure drug". A top doctor also provides information about withdrawal.

"During this week, we want to raise people's awareness, because the way people deal with alcohol is still characterized by ignorance. The effects of consumption are often trivialized, yet alcohol is the substance with the greatest disease burden worldwide alongside nicotine," says Carinthia's health officer Beate Prettner.
