Fire in meat production: 19 fire brigades deployed
A hall belonging to a meat, sausage and ham producer caught fire in Sieghartskirchen (Tulln district) on Tuesday afternoon. 19 fire departments were called out.
There was a fire inside the meat processing hall, said the fire department spokesman. Breathing apparatus teams were deployed to fight the flames. Turntable ladders from Stockerau and Tulln were also requested.
Huge contingent of helpers
In total, around 200 helpers had their hands full at the scene of the fire. The fire broke out in the meat processing hall, according to the fire department. Parts of the ceiling collapsed, otherwise the smoke development was a major problem.
Thanks to the rapid presence of the numerous firefighters, the fire was brought under control in the afternoon hours - after which thermal imaging cameras were used to search for pockets of embers.
The alert level was B4. There were no injuries, according to Klaus Stebal from the regional command.
