Three churches stolen from
Copper thieves are now targeting places of worship
Within a few days, unknown persons have stolen from three churches in the district of Bruck an der Leitha. They targeted the copper guttering of each church.
Nothing is sacred to these thieves. In their search for valuable items, they chose churches of all places. Specifically: the valuable copper guttering of places of worship. In the district of Bruck an der Leitha alone, three cases have recently been reported.
The first was the Quirinus Church in Fischamend. Over a period of five days, just as many gutters were dismantled and taken away without anyone noticing. A little later, St. Michael's Church, which is also located in Fischamend and is around one kilometer away, was chosen as the target. Three pieces of guttering were presumably also stolen from this church during the night.
The last attack was in Bad Deutsch-Altenburg. A total of five meters of guttering, also made from the coveted metal, were taken from St. Mary's Church there. The exact amount of damage is still unclear.
