Police put the brakes on car thief
A 48-year-old is said to have looted 18 vehicles in just four weeks. The crime scenes are located in the districts of Tulln and Korneuburg. The suspect from the Czech Republic caused at least 20,600 euros in damage.
Officers from the Klosterneuburg police station proved to have the right instinct: they arrested a 48-year-old Czech citizen at the end of March. The suspect was charged with six car burglaries in the city area. By order of the public prosecutor's office, the alleged serial offender was taken to Korneuburg prison. During questioning, the man confessed to the six crimes.
Coups from Tulln to Stockerau
During further investigations, officers from the Klosterneuburg criminal investigation department were able to attribute a further 12 car burglaries in the districts of Tulln and Korneuburg to the accused. According to the police, he is said to have struck from Zeiselmauer via Tulln to Stockerau and Korneuburg. The 48-year-old is now on trial for 18 burglaries with a total loss of 20,600 euros.
