Mistress fell: Shepherd dog blocked the way of rescuers
A woman who fell in her house and lay on the floor for hours was in urgent need of help. But her own dog, of all things, blocked the rescuers' path.
The protective instinct of her German shepherd almost proved fatal for a 63-year-old woman from Emmersdorf in the district of Melk on Sunday afternoon. Because the woman had fallen. She had been lying helplessly in her house for hours before she was able to drag herself to a telephone and dial the emergency number. A short time later, the emergency services were already on the scene. But the four-legged friend blocked their way. The rescuers therefore called for reinforcements.
Lured into another room
The Melk fire department with its special equipment and officers from the police dog unit had to arrive. In the meantime, however, a neighbor who is familiar with the dog offered her help. She calmed the German shepherd down and lured it into a room, which was then locked. The paramedics were then able to reach the accident victim, treat her and take her to hospital.
