Protest against Israel
Palestinians go on general strike
A general strike began in the West Bank on Sunday in protest against Israeli military operations resulting in the deaths of Palestinians in a refugee camp in Tulkarem and in the Gaza Strip. The Fatah movement, among others, had called for the strike. According to eyewitnesses, there was hardly any traffic on the streets of Ramallah on Sunday morning and stores were closed.
Israeli soldiers again killed several Palestinians on Sunday, including a woman. According to the military, the 43-year-old woman was "eliminated" when she tried to attack soldiers with a knife at an army roadblock in the West Bank. The soldiers shot at the woman.
Settlers injured by booby trap
North of Hebron, soldiers shot and killed two Palestinians. The Palestinian Ministry of Health reported that it had been informed by the Israeli authorities of the deaths of the 18 and 19-year-old men. According to the army, they had previously attacked Israeli soldiers at a checkpoint.
In the West Bank, an Israeli settler was slightly injured on Sunday when he removed a Palestinian flag near a road and an explosive device detonated.
Military action in the West Bank too
Tensions have also increased in the West Bank since the start of the war between Israel and the Islamist Hamas in the Gaza Strip on October 7. Israeli forces carried out a major operation there until Saturday evening. According to the army, they killed at least ten gunmen in the process.
