Handball miracle
Second division team (!) West Wien sensationally wins the Cup!
Second-division team West Wien has sensationally secured the title in the Austrian Men's Handball Cup!
The underdog with several junior players and veteran Sandro Uvodic in goal defeated Final Four hosts Schwaz 29:28 (15:10) in the final on Saturday thanks to a last-second "flyer" goal by Andreas Dräger.
Coach Roland Marouschek's team thus became the first club from the Challenge League to celebrate the title. "It was an incredible fight. The fact that it ended happily for us is part and parcel of sport," said Clemens Möstl.
The defeated Tyroleans were dismayed. "In the end, they were better than us. I'm a bit stunned," said Schwaz player Michael Miskovez. West Vienna had been successful against HSG Graz in the semi-finals. Schwaz had eliminated defending champions Hard.
