Duplantis improves pole vault world record
Pole vaulter Armand Duplantis has opened the Olympic season with a world record. The 24-year-old Swede cleared 6.24 m at the Diamond League opener in Xiamen, China, on Saturday and improved his own record, which he set in Eugene, Oregon, in September 2023, by one centimeter. The Olympic and world champion, known only as "Mondo", initially mastered 6.00 m with ease and then broke the world record at his first attempt.
