“Vagina will look out!” Olympic outfit causes uproar
Uproar over the athletics outfits for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris! Several US female athletes criticized the Nike jerseys, which were far too tight.
They are extremely revealing and consist of thin, high-cut panties. Reigning world indoor long jump champion Tara Davis-Woodhall, for example, commented that her private parts would be exposed. "Wait a minute, my vagina will be showing," she warns.
Fierce criticism
"Professional athletes should be able to compete without having to constantly watch their pubic area or worry about every vulnerable part of their body being on display," wrote former long-distance runner Lauren Fleshman on Instagram. "If this outfit really improved physical performance, men would wear it." 3000m hurdler Colleen Quigley wrote under the same post: "I still want to make the team, but ..." She ended her comment with a sad emoji.
After all, the outfits unveiled on Thursday were just two of many options for track and field athletes to choose from at the Olympics, the USATF emphasized on Monday.
