FA Cup semi-final
Coventry v Manchester United from 4.30pm LIVE
What a soccer thriller: Manchester United almost added another chapter of failure to this season! The "Red Devils" squandered a 3-0 lead in the semi-final of the FA Cup against second-division side Coventry City, of all teams, and were only able to secure victory in a penalty shoot-out ...
Scott McTominay (23), Harry Maguire (45-1) and Bruno Fernandes (58) had given the seventh-placed Premier League side a seemingly unassailable lead in their clash with the eighth-placed Championship side.
Goal rescinded after video evidence
However, Ellis Simms (71), Callum O'Hare (79) and Haji Wright with a penalty in the 5th minute of stoppage time brought the underdogs back into the game - and into extra time. Victor Torp (121) seemed to have secured the win for the second-division side, but his goal was disallowed after video evidence.
For Manchester United, who had beaten Liverpool 4-3 in extra time in the quarter-finals, ex-Sturm Graz striker Rasmus Höjlund scored the decisive goal from the spot. O'Hare and captain Ben Sheaf missed for Coventry.
The final of the prestigious cup competition will take place on May 25. It will be a rematch of the 2023 final, in which Man City came out on top 2:1 last year.
