Farmer dragged himself to his house after an accident
The fact that a 61-year-old farmer from Brückl managed to drag himself to his own house after an accident with a tractor may have saved his life.
The accident occurred on Thursday afternoon in the 61-year-old farmer's forest in the municipality of Brückl. He had attached a tree trunk to a tractor with a chain. "He was pulling the log along his forest road when the tractor started to slide," the police report. "It overturned sideways a few meters down a steep embankment. The farmer was thrown from the tractor unit."
With his serious injuries and the last of his strength, the 61-year-old dragged himself to his home - so the emergency services could be alerted in time. "The injured man was first treated by the rescue service and emergency doctor and then flown to Klagenfurt Hospital by the RK 1 rescue helicopter for further treatment," the police continued.
As there was a risk of the tractor crashing again, the Brückl volunteer fire department had to secure the vehicle with 15 firefighters.
