The history 
The construction of the Maškovića Han began in 1644, commissioned and funded by Jusuf Mašković, a high dignitary originally from Vrana, at the court of the Sultan and Grand Admiral of the Turkish fleet. The Han was intended to be a summer house/residence when he returned to his hometown from Istanbul. The Han was intended to be a magnificent monumental building with all the necessary comforts, including a Turkish bath - hamam. Significant financial resources were invested in its construction and up to 500 workers worked on it every day.

In 1645, Mašković conquered Crete with 60,000 warriors and the magnanimity he showed towards the captured Venetian soldiers and inhabitants made him one of the most exemplary warriors of all time, but he incurred the wrath of the Sultan, who summoned him to court, where Mašković was eventually executed. His tragic fate also leaves its mark on the Han, which is not completed as planned, but in a much more modest form.
