Armed with a machete, a man allegedly threatened several teenagers in Vienna's Mariahilf district on Tuesday evening. The teenagers alerted officers to the incident in the area of Christian-Broda-Platz, and a short time later an arrest was made ...

Completely beside themselves, the teenagers drew the attention of the emergency services to the incident. With a precise description of the man, the officers were able to arrest a suspect in the immediate vicinity.

Man had a machete in his waistband
The 39-year-old man was immediately searched by the police officers. "A machete and a pepper spray were found in his waistband", police spokeswoman Julia Schick said on Wednesday.

Suspect taken to prison
The suspect was provisionally arrested on suspicion of making a dangerous threat. Because he already has a valid weapons ban, he was charged with this offense. He was then taken to a prison.
