Worker seriously injured after falling from ladder

A 58-year-old man from the district of Bruck-Mürzzuschlag fell from a ladder at a steelworks in Sankt Peter-Freienstein (district of Leoben) on Tuesday afternoon. The worker had to be flown to hospital seriously injured

At around 12 noon, the 58-year-old wanted to use a ladder to climb onto the roof of a transformer container. For reasons as yet unexplained, the worker fell from the ladder from a height of around three meters, first onto a stair railing and then onto the ground. There were no immediate witnesses to the accident. Colleagues could only hear the 58-year-old hit the ground. They administered first aid and set the rescue chain in motion.

The Red Cross and an emergency doctor provided the 58-year-old with first aid. He was flown to Graz University Hospital with serious injuries by the C12 rescue helicopter. It was not possible to establish any third-party fault.
