Record find in England
Cocaine was hidden in cheese delivery
Two men in England have been sentenced to long prison terms after being caught trying to transport large quantities of cocaine from Belgium to the UK as a cheese delivery.
Drug squad officers made the arrest last May, shortly after one of the two men had taken over a car from one of his dealers and driven it to the gang's warehouse. The officers found around 20 million euros worth of cocaine in the warehouse - packed in bin bags and several loaves of Gouda cheese. The police also seized large amounts of cash in the 46-year-old gang member's apartment.
"Biggest drugs find in Lancashire"
In the course of further investigations, another distributor was uncovered months later. According to Lancashire Police, it was the "biggest drug find in the county's history".
Now the 46-year-old and his 28-year-old accomplice have been sentenced to 27.5 and 16 years in prison respectively. "I welcome the sentences and I hope they send out a clear message about what happens to someone who sells drugs in Lancashire," Detective Inspector Haydn Sibley told the news site "Sky News".
