Oh no!
Katy Perry rips off her top on “American Idol”
Katy Perry caused an uproar with her outfit at the recording of the US show "American Idol". The reason: her futuristic-looking top was torn.
However, the singer took the outfit hoppala with humor and even shared a clip of the mishap with her fans on social media. In the clip, Perry can be seen sitting behind the judges' panel and desperately explaining: "My top has to stay up."
Perry with outfit misery
Meanwhile, two people can be seen fiddling with her top in the background. Probably unsuccessfully at first, as the 39-year-old, holding a pair of pliers, sighs: "If it can't be fixed, this show will get to see more than it would like."
Although the top was eventually fixed, Perry's luck clearly didn't last long. In the very next scene, Perry can be seen clutching her top to her body again.
"This is a family show"
"Your song made my top burst," the singer explains to the contestant on stage, as can also be seen. When it comes to judging the performance, Perry even has to slide under the jury panel. "It's a family show," she jokes in the video.
The fiancée of Hollywood star Orlando Bloom also documented her outfit woes on Twitter. The first snapshot was immediately followed by another in which Perry can be seen with padding in front of her cleavage. "It's ripped again," she wrote.
At least Perry was able to relax later. As the Daily Mail reported, the top was actually mended during a commercial break so that it lasted the rest of the show.
Perry puts an end to "American Idol"
It was only at the beginning of the year that Katy Perry revealed that she would probably be retiring after this season of "American Idol". "I think this will probably be my last show, my last season," she said on US presenter Jimmy Kimmel's show.
She loves "American Idol" so much, "but I feel like I need to go out there and feel the pulse of my own life," Perry, who has been on the casting show for seven years, continued.
