Major fire department operation on Monday evening in Lower Austria! A caravan is believed to have caught fire in the garage of Klosterneuburg Abbey. 152 firefighters and 33 vehicles were at the scene.
Shortly after 6.30 pm, the fire departments were alerted to a fire in Klosterneuburg Abbey in the district of Tulln. Thick, black smoke was billowing out of the underground garage of the monastery. Ten fire departments with 152 men and women were deployed.
Vehicle completely burnt out
The heavy smoke made the operation extremely difficult, and the firefighters were unable to find the source of the fire immediately due to the smoke. When they discovered the burning caravan, the fire was quickly extinguished. The vehicle burned out completely. The extensive building was cleared of smoke with the help of pressure ventilators from the Vienna Fire Department.

No damage to the pen
Several cars around the caravan, which is believed to have started the fire, were badly damaged by the hot smoke. Klosterneuburg Abbey itself was not damaged.
Five people, including three firefighters and two police officers, were taken to hospital by the Klosterneuburg Red Cross with suspected smoke inhalation.
