Styrian (60) died after downhill accident with e-bike

A 60-year-old Styrian from the district of Murtal had a fatal accident on his "Fully" e-mountain bike on a downhill course on Monday. According to the Styrian police, the man fell while jumping over a ramp and suffered a fatal head injury on impact. 

According to the police, the Styrian had been riding down a trail in the Steinplan area in the municipality of Rachau in "very good" downhill equipment and had chosen a "very difficult" level of difficulty.

No witnesses
The accident was not seen by any witnesses. "Two other downhillers arrived at the scene of the accident some time later, began resuscitation and set the rescue chain in motion," it said in a statement.

However, the emergency doctor from the Christophorus rescue helicopter and a district doctor were only able to determine that the 60-year-old had died.
