Leverkusen teases:
“Finally a good German champion.”
In all the celebrations following the championship-deciding match against Werder Bremen (5:0), Leverkusen's Robert Andrich couldn't resist a little dig at FC Bayern. Now Germany "finally has a good champion", said the midfielder in the DAZN interview.
In the catacombs, Andrich was asked the following question by presenter Alex Schlütter: "Eleven-year-old children know nothing other than Bayern Munich as German champions. What new things can you teach these eleven-year-olds today?"
"Now is Bayer Leverkusen time"
The 29-year-old's answer: "Yes, there is more than just Bayern Munich. There is Bayer Leverkusen and I hope there will be Bayer Leverkusen in the future. If you've only seen Bayern: now it's Bayer Leverkusen time and you can definitely celebrate the German champions really well. And now you finally have a good German champion."
A statement that the FC Bayern players are unlikely to like at all. The champions had come from Munich eleven years in a row, and Thomas Tuchel's squad can no longer catch up on the 16-point deficit.
