Drunk driver ends up upside down in the stream in Altenberg
A 32-year-old female driver under the influence of alcohol left the road on the road from Altenberg to Kapellen on Wednesday night. Her car plunged into the stream and ended up on its roof. While she was able to free herself, her passenger had to be rescued and taken to hospital.
The 32-year-old woman from the district of Bruck-Mürzzuschlag was driving to Kapellen with a 46-year-old man at around 10 pm. She veered off the road to the right near Altenberg. Their car then overturned, putting both occupants in danger.
The car finally came to rest on its roof in a stream. Surprisingly, the woman was uninjured and was able to free herself - but her passenger was stuck. The fire department rushed to the scene to rescue him. He was then taken to Bruck an der Mur Regional Hospital with indeterminate injuries. The car was lifted out of the stream with a crane. It later transpired that the 32-year-old had been driving under the influence of alcohol.
