Around 145 square meters
Upper Austrians have the most living space
Upper Austrian stays are more than a quarter more spacious and have almost a whole room more than the national average. Compared to Viennese accommodation, they are almost twice as large in this country! The Land ob der Enns is also the leader when it comes to conservatories.
In Upper Austria, you may not live large, but you live large! The average home in Upper Austria is 144.74 square meters in size. This was the result of a survey commissioned by the real estate portal ImmoScout24. Nationwide, the average home size is 112.34 square meters. The number of rooms is also highest in Upper Austria at 4.4 on average, while the national average is 3.78 rooms per residential unit.
"This is due to the rural structure," explains Markus Dejmek, Head of ImmoScout24 Austria. "In addition, there are districts in Upper and Lower Austria with relatively low prices per square meter for buying and renting - unlike in the west and the federal capital." Almost 40 percent of all main residences in the state have a garden, which is enough for second place nationwide. Almost one in ten homes in the Land ob der Enns has a conservatory - another top figure in Austria. Balconies, on the other hand, are the rarest here after Vienna and Lower Austria.
