After the "Krone" report
Award: Klagenfurt man overpowers robber
After the " Krone" interview with a courageous man from Klagenfurt who prevented a robbery, the provincial capital and police also presented Gerhard Gabriel with an award.
When an armed Armenian tried to rob a casino in the Fischl district of Klagenfurt, Gerhard Gabriel did not hesitate for long. "I just had to help," the 57-year-old told the "Krone" newspaper. Not even the large kitchen knife with which the robber threatened an employee deterred him. "I was able to overpower him from behind and disarm him!"
High praise from the city and police
After the "Krone" report, the provincial capital of Klagenfurt also became aware of the 57-year-old. "It was more important for Mr. Gabriel to protect others! This commitment must be honored," said Mayor Christian Scheider, praising the courageous intervention. As Gabriel also held the perpetrator until the police arrived, the Klagenfurt police also congratulated him: "It is really admirable how Mr. Gabriel acted. Especially because a knife was involved," said police officer Kurt Komarek, who then arrested the robber with a colleague.
"For me, that was a matter of course. But I'm still pleased about the award," said Gabriel after he was honored by the city of Klagenfurt.
