Drama before Bayer 04 hit
Tragic! Soccer fan gets caught under sweeper
Injury drama involving an English soccer fan in Cologne: On the evening before the Europa League clash between Bayer Leverkusen and West Ham United, a fan of the "Hammers" got caught under a road sweeper near the cathedral and was seriously injured!
As reported by "Tag24" and "Bild", the man had come to Germany especially for the European Cup match. But instead of being able to attend a soccer festival on Thursday, the 68-year-old Briton will have to recover from his serious injuries in the near future ...
Sweeper from the Cologne waste management company
It is still unclear exactly how the tragedy occurred - all that is known is that the sweeper belonging to Cologne's waste management company had just come out of a tunnel when it hit the man on a sidewalk, knocked him to the ground and trapped him underneath.
The driver of the machine was only slightly injured. The West Ham fan was taken to a nearby hospital after receiving first aid on site.
