16-year-old injures two police officers in Leibnitz
Two police officers were injured by a 16-year-old in Leibnitz who is suspected of being responsible for damage to property in an underground parking garage. Will he remain at large?
On Wednesday evening, police officers were called to the underground parking garage of a residential building by concerned residents following repeated damage to property by teenagers: fire extinguishers had been damaged or emptied. Teenagers were in the garage again, which is why new crimes were feared.
Fleeing from the police
When a patrol from the Leibnitz police station arrived at the scene, a 16-year-old immediately fled. Police officers pursued him and arrested him shortly afterwards. "The teenager also tried to defend himself by hitting the officers, so that he ultimately had to be handcuffed," the police report. Both officers sustained minor injuries and were treated as outpatients in hospital.
In addition to the suspicion of resisting public authority, a connection with other criminal offenses is being investigated. The public prosecutor's office will then decide whether the youngster will be sent to prison or released.
