Cat abandoned among garbage in transport box

Passers-by made a sad discovery in Klagenfurt on Wednesday. They found an abandoned cat near garbage containers, simply placed in a transport box.

The passers-by found the poor animal at Schachterlweg 29 in Klagenfurt, behind a block of flats near the garbage containers. Next to the transport box was food, a bowl, cat litter and a litter tray. "Luckily she was found. She would have had no chance of survival in the box," says the Animal Welfare Competence Center Klagenfurt, where the terrified velvet paw is now being cared for.

Abandonment is a criminal offense
"The cat is of course not chipped. We are now hoping for witnesses and tips who may know the tortoiseshell cat or know something about the owner," hopes Nina Zesar from Tiko, who also emphasizes that abandoning animals is a punishable offence.

"We also provide advice and help in difficult situations and find a solution. Abandoning an animal is not an option, even if you are overwhelmed," says Zesar. Reports to 0463/43541 will be treated confidentially.
