80-year-old female driver crashes into tractor

On Tuesday afternoon, there was a violent accident between a car and a tractor on the B 69 near Bad Radkersburg (district of south-eastern Styria). An 80-year-old woman from the district of Südoststeiermark was injured.

At around 1.30 p.m., the 80-year-old woman was driving her car on the B 69 coming from Halbenrain in the direction of Bad Radkersburg. At the same time, a 48-year-old man from the district of south-eastern Styria was driving in the opposite direction with an agricultural tractor and tanker trailer.

Vehicles collided

For reasons as yet unknown, the woman suddenly crossed into the oncoming lane with the car and there was a collision. Due to the force of the impact, the tractor trailer became uncoupled and came to a standstill lying across the road. Both the car and the tractor ended up on the cycle path next to the road.

Rescue took woman to hospital

The woman suffered injuries of indeterminate severity as a result of the accident. After first aid, the Red Cross took the 80-year-old woman to Bad Radkersburg Regional Hospital. The 48-year-old man remained uninjured. There was considerable material damage to the vehicles. The Altneudörfl, Mureck and Bad Radkersburg fire departments were deployed.
