Woman scammed 120,000 euros in social benefits

44-year-old woman fraudulently obtained emergency assistance and sickness benefit under a false name for years. The fraud was discovered during an inspection by the authorities. The woman was reported to the police. 

A 44-year-old woman fraudulently obtained social benefits for more than eight years. The woman from Mostviertel is said to have scammed a total of 120,000 euros. From March 2015 to December 2023, the woman received unemployment assistance and sickness benefit under a false name. The Serbian woman's schemes came to light during an inspection by the district administrative authority. The 44-year-old was subsequently reported to the public prosecutor's office in St. Pölten.

The woman is said to have made false statements with fraudulent intent and evaded her registration obligations. As a result, she unjustifiably received benefits in kind for her housing needs in addition to the minimum benefit. The 44-year-old has not yet confessed to the allegations, according to reports.
