Boy (5) lit a fire: fire on a farm
A five-year-old lit a lighter in his grandfather's workshop on Monday evening and accidentally started a fire in the outbuilding of the farm in south-eastern Styria. 90 firefighters battled the flames, no one was injured.
On Monday evening, a family experienced anxious moments on their farm in Bierbaum am Auersbach (district of south-eastern Styria). After the mother (31) came home from a walk with her five-year-old son and fed the family dog, the boy went unnoticed into an outbuilding that his grandfather uses as a workshop and store.
The boy came into the house crying
There, the boy may have discovered a gas lighter and set fire to a cardboard box. When the fire broke out, the five-year-old ran back into the house in tears and informed his mother.
When the fire department arrived, the outbuilding was already fully engulfed in flames. Seven fire departments were deployed with 90 firefighters.
No people or animals were injured in the fire and the amount of property damage is not yet known.
