Cyclist (74) died one month after accident

A traffic accident on February 7 in Voitsberg, Styria, had dramatic consequences. A car collided with a cyclist (74), the man was apparently only slightly injured. Two days later, his condition deteriorated and he had to undergo emergency surgery. One month later, the 74-year-old died. 

On February 7, a 74-year-old cyclist from the district of Voitsberg was at a traffic circle in the Styrian district capital and intended to ride in the direction of Fabrikstraße. At the same time, a 59-year-old woman in a car coming from Krems entered the traffic circle in front of the cyclist. The 74-year-old touched the 59-year-old's car and crashed.

Complications only days after the accident
At first, the consequences of the accident did not appear to be that serious. The 74-year-old was taken to Graz Regional Hospital, but was discharged into home care after outpatient treatment. Two days later, the man suffered health complications and had to undergo emergency surgery and be put into artificial deep sleep that same night.

Tragically, he succumbed to his injuries a month later in mid-March. The incident was only reported to the police afterwards. Voitsberg police are now investigating.
