Accident in the Zillertal
Young man (19) fell into ravine after a party – dead
Tragic accident last Friday in Mayrhofen in the Tyrolean Zillertal: a 19-year-old Dutchman fell from a bridge on the unlit main road into the 50-metre deep Zemmschlucht gorge. He could only be rescued dead.
The 19-year-old Dutchman was living temporarily in Tyrol and was attending a private party on Friday. Afterwards, he was walking along the Zillertal Bundesstraße at around 10.50 p.m. - in complete darkness, according to the police. On the Zemmbach bridge, he is believed to have fallen into the ravine below for unknown reasons.
Police found body, recovered by emergency services
Other visitors to the party later informed the police. They set out to search for the young Dutchman and soon found him dead in the 50-metre-deep Zemm gorge.
Mountain rescue, water rescue and the fire department had to recover the body of the 19-year-old. A post-mortem examination revealed no evidence of any external cause.
