Crazy:
Dispute over 500-million-dollar vineyard hangs on 1 euro
A never-ending war of the roses has been raging for eight years over the children and the joint marital assets. The crazy thing is that the outcome of the bitter dispute between Brangelina over their 500-million-dollar vineyard in France could ultimately depend on a single euro.
The legal tug-of-war between Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie over the Chateau Miraval and its vineyard in particular is highly complex. The ex-couple bought the estate in 2008 - Pitt with 60 percent and Jolie with 40 percent. Shortly before the wedding in 2014, Brad decided that his wife-to-be should own the full half of the estate.
He therefore sold 10 percent of his shares to Angie for the sum of 1 euro.
Never paid?
And this is where the crucial court dispute comes into play: Pitt's lawyers claim in court that the transfer of the shares is not legally valid - because Jolie never paid the 1 euro to Pitt.
This means that the 43-year-old did not have the right to sell 50 percent of Chateau Miraval to the Russian Stoli Group. The 60-year-old's lawyer is therefore demanding that the sale be reversed by the court.
An insider in the "New York Post" claims that Jolie's legal team was caught off guard by the tactic: "In the US, it's common practice to sell valuables within families for the sum of 1 dollar. It's more of a symbolic gesture and nobody really pays the dollar." According to insiders, a verdict from the court in Luxembourg is not expected for another year.
Abused by Pitt?
The former Hollywood glamorous couple announced their separation in 2016. Jolie accused Pitt of being violent towards her and one of their children during a flight. However, the investigation against Pitt was dropped.
The actress recently followed up and had her lawyers explain that there had already been domestic violence against her by Pitt before the incident on the plane.
According to Bang, when Jolie recently wanted to sell the 60-year-old star her share in Miraval, he made a non-disclosure agreement about his behavior a condition.
As the mother of six did not want to agree to the contract, no sale was ultimately concluded.
Her lawyer Paul Murphy told CNN in a statement: "Mr. Pitt refused to buy Ms. Jolie's share when she would not be silenced by his agreement. By refusing the purchase offer and subsequently suing, Mr. Pitt made clear why the non-disclosure agreement was so important to him and what he hoped to bury: his abuse of Ms. Jolie and her family."
