Passers-by apprehended a tobacconist burglar

Civil courage is currently a top priority in Klagenfurt. While - as reported - a guest was able to thwart a robbery in a Klagenfurt casino on Friday night, passers-by detained a burglar who had broken into a tobacconist's on Saturday morning.

The initially unknown man had smashed the glass of the entrance door of a tobacconist's shop in Klagenfurt with a stone at around 6.42 a.m. and had already stolen several tobacco products and some scratch cards. However, the burglary was noticed by three passers-by who had been in the vicinity of the tobacconist's shop. They confronted the suspect in the shop and detained him.

He was then led out of the store by one of the three passers-by, a 23-year-old man from Klagenfurt, and held until the police arrived. The suspect, a 35-year-old man from Klagenfurt, was provisionally arrested by the arriving officers and subsequently taken to the police detention center in Klagenfurt.
