LIVE: Thiem in Monte-Carlo qualifier against Bautista

A bad setback for Dominic Thiem: The former world number three from Austria clearly failed in the first qualifying round for the Masters 1000 tournament in Monte Carlo! 

Thiem had no chance against 35-year-old Roberto Bautista-Agut, losing 1:6 and 2:6 after just 71 minutes.

Thiem will therefore soon lose his top 100 ranking. He is currently number 95 in the ATP live rankings, and after Monte Carlo on April 15 he will drop 45 points from his second-round exit at the same venue last year.

His next scheduled appearance is now in mid-April at the ATP250 tournament in Munich, where the 30-year-old has received a wild card.
