A moment of shock for an 82-year-old farmer on Friday afternoon in Söll in the Tyrolean lowlands: the tractor he was driving across a field burst into flames. With the help of a neighbor, the man was able to react quickly.
The vehicle that the local man was driving in a field above his farm is an older model. At around 3 p.m., the engine in the rear of the tractor suddenly caught fire - the reason for this is still unclear.
Flames fought with a fire extinguisher
The driver then informed a neighbor, who called the fire department and rushed to the 82-year-old's aid with several fire extinguishers. They managed to contain the flames so that the Söll fire department only had to carry out extinguishing work and a check with a thermal imaging camera. After an hour, the approx. 25 firefighters were able to leave again.
Fortunately, no one was injured in the fire. It is not yet possible to estimate the extent of the damage caused.
